Tip: Use flashcards for verb conjugations
I found that creating physical flashcards with the verb on one side and all its conjugations on the other really helped me memorize them faster. Also, practice conjugating verbs while doing daily activities - like 'I am eating' while you eat, 'I am walking' while you walk, etc. This method helped me master the present and past tenses in just two weeks!
Let's practice: Describe your daily routine in Sinhala
I think it would be helpful if we all shared our daily routines in Sinhala as practice! I'll start: මම උදේ 6 ට අවදි වෙනවා. මම නහනවා. පසුව මම බත් කනවා. මම වැඩට යනවා. (I wake up at 6am. I shower. Then I eat rice. I go to my work.) Please share yours and feel free to correct mine if there are mistakes!
How do I pronounce මම correctly?
I'm having trouble with the pronunciation of 'මම' (mama - I/me). Is the 'a' sound short or long? Any tips would be appreciated!
Confused about postpositions - when to use ට vs ගෙන්?
Can someone explain the difference between using ට (ta) and ගෙන් (gen) in sentences? I understand ට is 'to' and ගෙන් is 'from', but I keep making mistakes in my writing exercises. For example: - මම පාසලට යනවා (I go to school) - මම අම්මගෙන් ඉල්ල ගත්තා (I borrowed from my mom) Are there other uses I should know about?
Best Sinhala language YouTube channels?
I'm looking for good YouTube channels that teach Sinhala. I've been using this app which is great, but I'd like some additional video content to practice listening. Any recommendations for channels that: - Have native speakers - Explain grammar clearly - Include cultural context - Have subtitles Thanks in advance!
